A fatal crash on the A55 resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes at Halkyn for several hours. The incident, which took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, led to the A-road being blocked in the eastbound direction near the Caerwys junction for approximately seven hours.
According to North Wales Police, the collision involved a single vehicle, a Ford Ranger pick-up, and tragically, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Detective Sergeant Katie Davies expressed condolences to the man’s family and friends, noting that they would receive support from a specialized Family Liaison Officer during this challenging period.
Authorities are conducting investigations and urge any witnesses to come forward, especially those with potential dash cam footage from the vicinity of Halkyn on the A55. The road closure was necessary to allow the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit to conduct preliminary inquiries, with the A55 reopening around 8:30 am.
