A mother of four was fatally shot by her possessive former boyfriend, who abandoned her in a shopping center parking lot. Savannah Kulla, 29, was tragically discovered deceased outside a shopping mall after her ex-partner, Anthony Deschepper, 38, allegedly left her body there. Deschepper had kidnapped Savannah and their one-year-old daughter before she was found in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday afternoon according to the police. Following an alert, authorities located the child safe with relatives, who revealed that Deschepper had left the baby with them. Subsequently, a manhunt was launched for Savannah’s ex-partner by the police.
Local law enforcement and Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit located the father at a gas station in Niagara Falls around 2:30 am on Wednesday morning as per an official statement. Deschepper was fatally shot by a police officer during an encounter between him and the authorities. Despite efforts by paramedics, the 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, with a post-mortem examination expected to follow.
A firearm was discovered at the location, but there was no evidence that Deschepper had discharged it. Another woman, unidentified and with an undisclosed relationship to Deschepper, was apprehended at the scene. Allegedly, she was driving the vehicle in which the father was traveling before his capture.
Karen, Savannah’s grieving mother, disclosed that her daughter had recently ended her relationship with Deschepper. Karen, speaking to CityNews Everywhere, expressed her daughter’s struggle to break away from him, stating that Savannah had told her she needed to distance herself. She recounted how Savannah had visited him to end things, which she finally did over the weekend.
Karen described herself as an emotional wreck since her daughter’s tragic passing, highlighting Savannah’s dedication to her children. She confirmed that Savannah and Deschepper shared a one-year-old child, while her three boys are currently residing with their father, Savannah’s previous partner. Karen expressed relief that Deschepper was no longer a threat to her grandchildren.
Following the incident, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by one of Savannah’s childhood friends. The fundraiser emphasized Savannah’s deep love for her children, portraying her as a devoted mother whose world revolved around her kids. The family’s goal is to ensure that Savannah’s children receive the care, stability, and love she would have provided each day.
