Lewis Hamilton Urges Ferrari for Team Changes

Lewis Hamilton has communicated with Ferrari leadership once again to emphasize the need for changes in the team’s operations. The seven-time world champion has faced challenges since joining Ferrari from Mercedes last winter.

Hamilton, aged 40, is yet to secure a podium finish with Ferrari and currently holds the sixth position in the drivers’ standings ahead of the upcoming United States Grand Prix, trailing his teammate Charles Leclerc by 48 points.

During the Belgium Grand Prix in July, Hamilton revealed that he has been providing a series of “documents” to Ferrari throughout the season in an effort to turn around his performance and progress following a challenging start.

Reports from August indicated that Hamilton’s correspondences focus on proposed modifications to the car and the team’s operational practices, particularly the communication between various departments during race weekends.

According to Italian publication Corriere della Sera, Hamilton has submitted another document to Ferrari’s ‘top management,’ emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive changes across the team.

It has been noted that Hamilton had anticipated a greater influence on decision-making at Ferrari but has encountered unexpected challenges and internal politics instead.

Hamilton’s situation at Ferrari has drawn parallels to Sebastian Vettel, a four-time world champion who struggled to instigate change during his tenure at the team from 2015 to 2020.

In preparation for his move to Ferrari, Hamilton sought guidance from Vettel in January, engaging in discussions to exchange insights and experiences as fellow world champions.

Following an incident during qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix, where both Hamilton and Leclerc experienced difficulty maintaining tire temperature, Hamilton highlighted an area for improvement within Ferrari’s strategy to enhance performance.

Hamilton expressed concerns about the substantial loss of tire temperature during the outlap, leading to challenges in regaining optimal temperature without excessive tire wear, impacting their competitive edge during flying laps.

Hamilton suggested that accelerating the process of getting on track with minimal pit lane delays could be an area for improvement to enhance performance consistency.

Formula 1 enthusiasts can now access live coverage of every practice, qualifying session, and race through Sky’s new Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, providing significant savings and inclusive benefits such as access to over 100 TV channels, as well as complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.
