Jack Draper has parted ways with his coach of four years, James Trotman. During Trotman’s tenure, Draper achieved notable success, securing three ATP Tour titles, including Indian Wells, making it to the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open, and rising to No.4 in the global rankings.
Trotman has decided to step back from coaching to prioritize his family. Draper’s 2025 season was cut short due to an arm injury, with the British No.1 playing only one official match post-Wimbledon, reaching the second round of the US Open before withdrawing.
Recently, Draper enlisted the expertise of Jamie Delgado, former coach of Andy Murray and Grigor Dimitrov, to join his coaching team. Delgado is expected to accompany Draper on most tour events, with initial plans for Trotman to remain involved.
However, due to family commitments, Trotman, who has two young children, believes he cannot fully meet Draper’s needs as the world No.9. Despite this, Trotman will still be considered part of the team, and Draper has expressed gratitude for his contributions.
Draper is scheduled to make his competitive comeback at the UTS London event in December, with Delgado leading his coaching team. Delgado has a successful coaching history, notably guiding Murray to significant achievements during their partnership and coaching Dimitrov to a career resurgence before their recent split.
Moreover, Draper has been dedicated to his training regimen, putting in consistent hours at the National Tennis Centre gym and even undertaking a brief training period in the Algarve.
