“Plusnet Leads, TalkTalk Lags: UK Broadband Complaint Rankings”

A recent report from UK regulator Ofcom reveals the varying performance of major broadband providers in the UK in handling customer complaints. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked lowest in customer satisfaction, generating the highest number of broadband complaints according to Ofcom’s latest update.

Ofcom stated, “EE, TalkTalk, and Vodafone were the top three broadband providers with the highest number of complaints, with TalkTalk and Vodafone experiencing an increase in complaints compared to the previous quarter.”

On the flip side, Plusnet emerged as the top performer with the least number of complaints, surprising many given that both Plusnet and EE are under the BT umbrella but exhibit contrasting complaint rates.

Ofcom commented, “Plusnet had the lowest number of complaints among broadband providers.”

Following Plusnet, Sky secured the second spot for the least number of complaints, while Virgin Media notably improved its ranking, moving up to the third position for minimal grievances.

The data also highlights the performance of providers in the landline and pay-TV categories. Utility Warehouse led in landline services with only 1 complaint per 100,000 customers, with Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone also demonstrating strong performance in this area.

However, TalkTalk continued to struggle, occupying the bottom position with 8 complaints per 100,000 customers. Nevertheless, TalkTalk excelled in TV services, receiving the fewest complaints in that category.

Notably, overall complaint levels across broadband, landline, mobile, and pay-TV remained stable compared to the previous quarter, indicating a lack of significant improvement in service quality. Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, expressed concerns over the industry’s stagnant complaint rates despite consumers facing escalating costs.

Doku stated, “Although overall complaint volumes have held steady, the lack of improvement is worrying for customers dealing with higher bills. Plusnet’s exceptional performance in receiving the fewest complaints underscores its recent recognition as the Best Broadband Provider for Customer Service at the Uswitch 2026 Telecoms Awards.”

As annual price adjustments approach in April, customers are advised to review their service providers to ensure they receive value for money. Comparing deals can help consumers identify providers offering better services and potentially save costs.
