Jamie Redknapp has revealed that his oldest son, from his previous marriage to Louise Redknapp, initially struggled to accept the news of his new baby. The former footballer and his current wife, Frida Andersson, welcomed their first child together in November 2021, shortly after their wedding.
Their relationship began after his separation from Louise in 2017, following a 19-year marriage. Jamie, 52, had chosen to keep details of the breakup private and excluded it from his 2020 book.
In a rare disclosure about his life post-divorce, Jamie shared his sons’ reactions to his expanding family on The Romesh Ranganathan Show. He admitted that breaking the news of Frida’s pregnancy to his sons, Charley, 21, and Beau, 16, was challenging, especially for Charley, who didn’t take it well initially.
While Charley’s world felt disrupted, Beau adjusted more easily to the news. Jamie acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but emphasized that his heart was full, understanding that change was hard for his sons.
After some time to adapt, Charley and Beau have embraced their roles as older brothers to Raphael, who will soon be four years old. Jamie publicly expressed his pride in Charley on his 21st birthday, highlighting his son’s qualities and the joy of their relationship.
In contrast, Louise celebrated Charley’s milestone by sharing a photo montage of his life so far, expressing her pride and admiration for the young man he has become.
Regarding her personal life, Louise is currently in a relationship with businessman Drew Michael since 2023, but she has no immediate plans for marriage. She expressed contentment with their relationship, enjoying the special moments they share together.
When asked about marriage, Louise emphasized living in the present and being happy with the current situation, without rushing into future plans. She expressed optimism about her relationship but acknowledged the uncertainty of the future.
