A man’s sudden death in a Derbyshire village led to a bomb squad response and the evacuation of residents from approximately 50 homes. The incident occurred at a property on Church Lane, Horsley Woodhouse, prompting Derbyshire Police to close off the area between Stainsby Avenue and Calladine Lane due to concerns about potentially hazardous items in a shed.
After investigating the situation, Derbyshire Constabulary confirmed that the police cordon in Horsley Woodhouse was removed following the precautionary evacuations that took place the day before. The Explosive Ordnance Division assessed two sheds on the property and determined that there was no imminent danger to the public. The sheds contained items associated with legally owned firearms, which were safely disposed of by the authorities.
Authorities have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death and have informed his next of kin. A report will be compiled for the coroner to further investigate the matter.
