Apple has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the iPhone 17e, confirming earlier speculations. The iPhone 17e follows the iPhone 16e released last year and continues Apple’s trend of offering essential features at a more budget-friendly price compared to its premium counterparts.
Priced at £599, the iPhone 17e is over £200 cheaper than the iPhone 17 and £500 less expensive than the 17 Pro. Notably, it now comes with a base storage of 256GB, doubling the capacity of its predecessor.
Enhancing performance, Apple has integrated the new A19 chip into the iPhone 17e, replacing the A18 chip of the 16e. The device also features Apple’s latest C1X cellular modem, promising double the speed of the previous C1 for faster downloads and smoother streaming on mobile data.
The iPhone 17e boasts a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display delivering crisp visuals, protected by Apple’s durable Ceramic Shield glass. Additionally, enhanced anti-reflective technology reduces glare for improved visibility in bright environments.
A notable addition to the iPhone 17e is MagSafe, enabling faster wireless charging and easy attachment of compatible accessories like wallets and stands. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 48MP Fusion camera, offering advanced sensor capabilities for enhanced zooming and composition, along with 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second.
Safety features include Emergency SOS via satellite for messaging in cellular dead zones and Crash Detection to automatically alert emergency services in case of a severe car accident.
Available in black, white, and a new soft pink finish, the iPhone 17e starts at £599. Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, highlighted the device’s powerful performance, increased storage, innovative camera system, and durability, making it a compelling choice for users seeking an upgraded iPhone experience.
