British Man Dies of Salmonella Poisoning on Luxury Holiday

A tragic incident unfolded during a luxury family vacation in the Canary Islands, leaving a British woman devastated as her husband passed away due to salmonella poisoning. The couple, Leslie and Julie Green, were enjoying a celebratory holiday at the Occidental Jandia Playa resort in Fuerteventura when Leslie fell seriously ill during the second week of their trip. Despite medical intervention, Leslie’s health deteriorated, leading to complications such as sepsis and kidney failure. Tragically, he succumbed to the illness about four weeks later.

Julie, who also contracted salmonella, became seriously ill and spent a week in the hospital following her husband’s illness. She expressed concerns about the food quality at the resort, mentioning lukewarm carbonara sauce and undercooked chicken. Julie highlighted lapses in food handling practices, including the absence of handwashing by staff and improper food storage.

The couple’s holiday took a devastating turn, with Leslie’s passing leaving Julie heartbroken. She remembered Leslie as a kind and loving man who cherished his family and enjoyed hobbies like fishkeeping, darts, and supporting his favorite football team. Julie expressed disbelief at the turn of events, lamenting the loss of their retirement plans and seeking answers regarding the circumstances surrounding Leslie’s death.

The Greens’ daughters were also affected by the tragedy, with one daughter flying out to support her parents during the ordeal. Another guest at the resort, Michaela Smith, also fell ill with salmonella around the same time and has sought legal assistance for her case. Legal experts are investigating the incidents, emphasizing the seriousness of salmonella infections and the need for proper precautions to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As investigations continue, holidaymakers planning visits to the resort are advised to exercise caution. Any concerns about the resort should be addressed promptly to ensure the safety and well-being of guests. The legal team is committed to providing support and seeking justice for those affected by these unfortunate events.
