Chelsea’s key player, Cole Palmer, is facing a potential absence in the upcoming Premier League match against Nottingham Forest after the international break. Originally expected to return post-break, doubts have emerged about his recovery timeline.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has voiced concerns over Palmer’s fitness for the next game, labeling his groin injury as ‘chronic.’ The severity of the injury remains undisclosed by the club, with discussions underway to plan the next steps for his rehabilitation.
Palmer has been sidelined since being substituted early in the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. His groin issue resurfaced shortly after playing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
A meeting between the club and the player is scheduled to evaluate Palmer’s injury status this week. Meanwhile, Reece James, the club captain, withdrew from the England squad due to an injury sustained in the victory over Liverpool, which is deemed not severe by Chelsea’s medical team.
Other players like Levi Colwill, Liam Delap, and Dario Essugo are also out with long-term injuries. However, players such as Tosin Adarabioyo, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Josh Acheampong are expected to recover post the international break.
Willy Caballero mentioned that the absence of two central defenders was precautionary and they are expected to be fit soon. Sky has announced a discounted TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering more live matches across various leagues.
