Emma Raducanu successfully achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season concluded. The British tennis star ended her season prematurely in October due to health reasons.
Raducanu’s journey throughout the season had its ups and downs. Despite securing notable wins at Wimbledon and the US Open and reclaiming her position as Britain’s top player, she faced fitness challenges towards the end. These issues became apparent at the Ningbo Open, where she required medical assistance and lost her first-round match in a grueling three-set battle.
After encountering various obstacles, Raducanu made the decision to conclude her season early while confirming that her coach, Francisco Roig, would remain with her in 2026. This choice jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.
Exiting her final two tournaments of the year ranked 29th, Raducanu’s aspiration of breaking into the top 32 was uncertain. With no additional ranking points to add after her withdrawal, she awaited confirmation on achieving this milestone.
As the season wrapped up, Raducanu finished the year as the world No. 29 player. This positioning ensures that unless she faces a challenging start in the upcoming 2026 events, she will secure a seed in Melbourne.
In early October, Raducanu had set her sights on being seeded for the Australian Open and elaborated on the significance of this goal. Emphasizing the importance of her ranking, she aimed to enhance her chances of progressing in tournament draws and facing top players early on.
Beyond her on-court performance, Raducanu highlighted the importance of being a role model and inspiring younger generations. She stressed maintaining a positive attitude and setting a good example for aspiring players by demonstrating sportsmanship and resilience.
Currently, Raducanu stands as the sole British player within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, with Aryna Sabalenka claiming the top spot this year. Iga Swiatek followed in second place, while Coco Gauff and Amanda Anisimova secured the third and fourth positions, respectively.
Additionally, Sky has introduced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering savings and a wide range of live matches across various leagues.
