Entrepreneur Paul, who had been thriving in his business ventures, encountered severe financial challenges following significant health crises and the breakdown of his marriage, which drastically altered his circumstances.
Residing in Hertfordshire, Paul underwent extensive heart surgery in 2012 after collapsing near a lake. His recuperation was hindered by complications in the wound healing process, leading to a subsequent stroke that left one side of his body paralyzed.
With his ability to work compromised, Paul had to resort to seeking assistance through Universal Credit and Personal Independence Payments (PIP) after parting ways with his spouse.
His financial situation deteriorated significantly, prompting his bank to initiate repossession proceedings on his specially adapted residence that accommodated his disabilities.

Speaking to The Mirror, Paul recounted his journey: “I transitioned from a successful business owner to a sudden health crisis, facing life-threatening conditions by the lake in Milton Keynes.
“Following resuscitation and subsequent major heart surgery to replace an aortic valve, my recovery was impeded by a wound complication, culminating in a debilitating stroke.”
“The stroke left me with half my body paralyzed, devoid of sensation on my left side.”
