An Irish firefighter named Terence Crosbie has been convicted of sexual assault at Suffolk Superior Court in Boston. The 39-year-old was accused of assaulting a 29-year-old woman during festivities on St. Patrick’s Day in March 2024. Following over 15 hours of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict, and his sentencing is scheduled for October 30.
During the trial at Suffolk Superior Court, Crosbie’s family and friends, seated at the front of the gallery, became emotional upon hearing the verdict. Crosbie was apprehended from an Aer Lingus flight shortly after being interviewed by Boston Police Department detectives. It was revealed in court that he had initially booked a flight to Dublin at 10:10 pm on March 16, 2024, but later switched to an earlier unlisted flight at 6:30 pm on the same day.
Security footage presented in court showed Crosbie disembarking the Aer Lingus flight at Logan Airport. The victim, who had met Crosbie’s hotel roommate, Liam O’Brien, at a pub, recounted their interactions leading up to the incident at the Omni Parker House hotel in Boston.
After the assault, the victim messaged a friend about the ordeal before seeking medical assistance at Massachusetts General Hospital. Despite the allegations, Crosbie vehemently denied the accusations, claiming he did not assault the woman and had briefly encountered her without knowing her name.
Defense evidence included video footage from the pub and hotel that showed Crosbie’s movements on the night in question. Additionally, DNA experts testified that there was no conclusive evidence linking Crosbie to the assault based on DNA samples collected from the victim.
The jury, consisting of six men and six women, ultimately found Crosbie guilty of sexually assaulting the 29-year-old woman. He is awaiting sentencing on October 30.
