Former Tottenham player Jamie Redknapp publicly apologized to businessman Lord Alan Sugar live on Sky Sports during Bournemouth’s 3-1 win over Fulham on Friday evening. Following Daniel Levy’s departure from Spurs last month, Redknapp criticized Lord Sugar for allegedly leaving the club in disarray.
Redknapp clarified that Levy should be commended for his positive impact on the club. In response, Lord Sugar threatened legal action against the former footballer, claiming his comments were baseless.
During a recent broadcast, Redknapp acknowledged his error and praised Lord Sugar for stabilizing the club and making substantial investments during his tenure as chairman. He expressed regret for any confusion or distress caused by his earlier statements.
In a social media post, Lord Sugar confirmed Redknapp’s apology and retraction of the false allegations made on Sky Sports. Additionally, a £10,000 donation was made to Great Ormond Street Hospital as a gesture of further apology.
Lord Sugar assumed control of Tottenham in 1991 and later sold the club to the ENIC Group, who remain the current owners. Tottenham is currently facing a potential takeover bid led by American DJ Brooklyn Earick, although the ENIC Group denies any intentions of selling the club.
Sky has introduced discounted prices for its Essential TV and Sky Sports package for the upcoming 2025/26 season, offering significant savings and an expanded coverage of over 1,400 live matches, including at least 215 live Premier League games.
