The individual accused in connection with the tragic car crash involving Anthony Joshua has made a court appearance in Nigeria. The crash resulted in the fatalities of Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, when their vehicle collided with a stationary lorry near Lagos on December 29. Joshua, the former heavyweight champion, sustained injuries but survived the incident.
Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, aged 46, attended the Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state near Lagos where his case was adjourned to March 13. He faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving and reckless and negligent driving. Kayode, who had previously been granted bail, is also accused of driving without due care and without a valid driver’s license, potentially facing a life sentence. Prosecutors requested more time to gather evidence for the case.
After narrowly escaping death in the collision, Joshua recovered and was discharged from the hospital on New Year’s Eve. He returned to the UK in early January and is currently undergoing rehabilitation. Joshua expressed gratitude for the support he received during his recovery, acknowledging the loss of his friends and their significant impact on his life.
Joshua emphasized the close bond he shared with his deceased companions, highlighting their shared personal and professional lives. He vowed to honor their legacy and dreams through a dedicated system he plans to establish. The heavyweight star remains resolute in continuing the work to preserve the memory of his late friends.
