A man who had been missing for two years reappeared in a TikTok video, ending his mysterious disappearance. Diego Londoño, a 41-year-old philosopher and musician, had been sought by his family after vanishing in Peru. Despite losing contact with his sisters in Colombia, Diego was located after an influencer learned of his situation and initiated a search.
Following reports of Diego being seen in Máncora, an Ecuadorian businesswoman, Amy Solano, traveled to the area. Despite an initial unsuccessful search, she encountered a man resembling Diego in Chiclayo and shared a video on TikTok. As a result of her efforts, Diego was located and taken into custody by the Peruvian National Police.
The police spotted Diego walking along the Panamericana Norte highway on Thursday, September 25, and recognized him. Although his family was relieved to hear of his safety, Diego expressed his intention to remain a “voluntary nomad” and not return to Colombia.
Diego spent a night and a day in police custody, where he received necessities and the opportunity to contact his family. Despite refusing a psychological evaluation, Diego appeared to be in good health. Described by officers as a polyglot selling handmade crafts in bronze and copper, Diego plans to fly to Lima while police recommend periodic visits to ensure communication with his family.
In an interview with Éxito Noticias, Diego acknowledged the difficulty of his situation, emphasizing the importance of his family while expressing uncertainty about his future plans.
