If you wake up to find moisture on the inside of your windows, you may be experiencing condensation issues. Condensation is common during winter and can be exacerbated by activities like cooking, showering, and steam. Indoor clothes drying can also add to condensation as the water vapor has no way to escape.
Recently, fans of cleaning expert Mrs. Hinch shared a simple trick to tackle window condensation. A Facebook user inquired in the ‘Mrs. Hinch Cleaning Tips’ group about dealing with excessive condensation on windows despite using damp pots, dehumidifiers, and keeping windows open, especially due to a young child being around.
The most recommended solution suggested was using cat litter enclosed in a long sock, as reported by the Express. Users recommended placing cat litter in pots or socks on windowsills to absorb moisture effectively.
Other tips shared included using a Karcher window vacuum and washing-up liquid to combat condensation. One user mentioned using a dry cloth with washing-up liquid wiped on windows, inspired by Nancy Birtwhistle’s method, which proved effective in preventing condensation.
Another suggested method was using a Karcher to remove condensation followed by airing out the room for about 10 minutes. These solutions were deemed helpful in reducing window condensation.
Cat litter for this purpose can be purchased at various retailers like Sainsbury’s, Pets at Home, and Asda. These cost-effective solutions offer practical ways to address condensation issues and maintain a comfortable indoor environment.
