Shocking video footage that has gone viral on social media shows a priest caught topless with a parishioner’s fiancée on church premises. Father Luciano Braga Simplício, in charge of Nossa Senhora Aparecida Parish in Nova Maringá, Brazil, was discovered in a compromising situation with a congregant. The incident, captured on video, has sparked widespread attention on social media.
The family of the bride-to-be has not yet issued a statement regarding the incident. The video depicts the groom forcibly entering the bedroom and bathroom after Simplício refused to open the doors, revealing the bride in distress under the bathroom sink. The Diocese of Diamantino (MT), responsible for overseeing the parish, has initiated an investigation into the priest’s behavior.
A statement released by the Diocese mentioned that appropriate canonical actions are being taken to address the situation for the well-being of the Church and its followers. They have requested understanding and prayers from everyone involved.
An audio recording has surfaced online in which Simplício attempts to provide an explanation for the presence of the woman at the parish house. He stated that she had requested to use a room for changing and showering after her morning work at the church.
In a separate incident from July, it was revealed that a former priest from a “cult church” had committed multiple sexual assaults against female congregants. Christopher Brain, the leader of the Nine O’Clock Service (NOS) evangelical movement in Sheffield, was charged with rape and indecent assault against numerous women. The prosecution described how the church, initially perceived as a progressive force, turned into a controlled group where the defendant abused his position to assault women.
