Primark has introduced a significant adjustment to its Christmas returns policy for 2025 in preparation for the upcoming holiday rush. The popular high street fashion retailer, with stores scattered throughout the UK and Ireland, has announced revised return dates for customers this year.
In anticipation of the Christmas season, Primark is extending its typical 28-day return window from October 14, 2025, to January 30, 2026. During this extended period, any purchases made within these dates can be either refunded or exchanged by customers.
To qualify for a return, the item must be in a “saleable condition,” complete with tags attached and with a valid receipt. Refunds for items returned within the standard 28-day timeframe will be issued using the original payment method. If shoppers do not possess the original payment card, Primark permits exchanges instead. However, items returned beyond the 28-day period are eligible only for refunds or exchanges.
Primark’s official statement on its website outlines the return policy, emphasizing the requirement for items to be returned in a saleable condition with tags attached and accompanied by a valid receipt within the specified dates.
Certain items, such as underwear, piercing jewelry, opened health and beauty products, and gift cards, are excluded from the return and exchange policy due to hygiene and safety considerations. It is important to note that this policy does not override customers’ legal rights.
During this time of year, many retailers implement similar extended return policies. For instance, last year, John Lewis allowed returns until January 23, while Argos and Sainsbury’s permitted returns until the end of January for purchases made from September 27 onwards.
Whether shopping in-store or online, customers are advised to review each retailer’s return policy details carefully. In-store shoppers can inquire at the checkout or take a photo of the return policy signage for reference.
