“Hamilton Calls for African Independence to Reclaim Resources”

Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton is advocating for Africa to gain independence from various colonial powers, including Britain, France, Spain, and others, in order to reclaim its valuable resources. Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, expressed his desire to see Formula 1 return to Africa before he retires during discussions at the Australian Grand Prix as the 2026 season commences in Melbourne.

Describing Africa as the most beautiful region in the world, Hamilton highlighted the ongoing exploitation of the continent by external forces. He emphasized the importance of African nations uniting to regain control of their resources from European powers. Hamilton stressed the potential of Africa to become a leading global powerhouse if given the opportunity to self-govern.

Expressing his enthusiasm for Africa hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix, Hamilton mentioned the absence of a race on the continent since 1993. He shared his positive experiences in countries like Kenya, Rwanda, and South Africa, suggesting them as ideal locations for future races. Hamilton is actively pushing for Formula 1 to include Africa on its racing calendar before he retires, citing his personal connection to the continent through his heritage.

In addition to his advocacy for Africa in Formula 1, Hamilton acknowledged his roots in countries like Togo, Benin, Senegal, and Nigeria, expressing pride in his African heritage. He is committed to ensuring that Africa is represented in the world of Formula 1 before he exits the sport.
