A young girl in West Sussex fell victim to sexual abuse spanning three generations within her own family, as revealed in the recent proceedings at Hove Crown Court.
According to the court, the girl was subjected to sexual assaults by her father, grandfather, and brothers, alongside enduring acts of child cruelty at the hands of her mother.
Six individuals have been convicted of committing 39 offenses against the two sisters in the family, as confirmed by Sussex Police. Additionally, two of the defendants were found guilty of obstructing justice. The victims received continuous support from trained officers and partner organizations during the investigation.
The abuse came to light when the elder sister confided in a school staff member, leading to the younger sister disclosing similar experiences of assault and neglect by their parents.
The trial commenced on September 16, resulting in the defendants being found guilty on 39 out of 42 charges. They are set to remain in custody until their sentencing in 2026.
Authorities collaborated with the media to ensure the protection of the victims’ identities during the case reporting due to legal constraints prohibiting the disclosure of the defendants’ names and details.
