Woman Misdiagnosed with Anxiety Revealed to Have Brain Tumor

A young woman initially misdiagnosed with anxiety-related hallucinations was later found to have a frightening brain tumor. Jessie Mae Lambert, 28, began experiencing symptoms in October 2023 but was initially treated for mental health issues and prescribed anxiety medication. Despite the treatment, her hallucinations persisted, leading to further dismissals from medical professionals who suggested dietary changes.

As her condition worsened with up to seven hallucinations daily, it was a seizure witnessed by her mother, Trish Lambert, that prompted medical intervention. Subsequent MRI and EEG scans revealed a brain mass, leading to brain debulking surgery where 40% of the tumor was removed for biopsy. The results confirmed a grade two astrocytoma, a benign brain tumor, and epilepsy. Subsequent radiotherapy successfully reduced the remaining mass, with regular scans showing positive progress.

Reflecting on her journey, Jessie, a nail technician from Derby, recounted her initial symptoms of fear and hallucinations, her frustration with delayed diagnosis, and the emotional toll on her and her family. Following surgery and treatment, Jessie continues to face memory and attention challenges, affecting her work and daily life. Despite the setbacks, she remains resilient, encouraging others facing similar diagnoses to embrace life and not let illness define their experiences.
