Aldi is set to introduce a new way for customers to make healthier food choices with the launch of its ‘Live Healthy’ logo across all UK stores starting next week. This initiative aims to promote selected own-label products like fresh produce, soups, and yogurts that align with the UK’s Eatwell Guide recommendations for a balanced diet.
The logo signifies that every product meeting the logo’s criteria adheres to strict nutritional standards, providing shoppers with added assurance when selecting items. This move follows the Government’s recent announcement of a 10-year health strategy, to which Aldi has committed to supporting by encouraging healthier consumer choices.
As part of its health-focused efforts, Aldi aims to achieve 85% of sales from healthy products by 2027 and increase fruit and vegetable sales by 14% by the same year. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, emphasized the brand’s dedication to offering affordable and healthy options that cater to customers’ needs without compromising on quality or cost.
In addition to the logo launch, Aldi has various initiatives in place to promote nutritious eating habits among its customers. These include the Super 6 offers on fresh produce and partnerships with Team GB and ParalympicsGB through the Get Set To Eat Fresh program, which educates children aged 5-14 on preparing nutritious and budget-friendly meals.
The government’s 10-year health strategy, titled “Fit for the Future: 10 Year Health Plan for England,” focuses on transitioning healthcare services to community settings, adopting digital systems, and prioritizing preventive care over treating illnesses. This strategy aims to modernize the NHS by leveraging new technologies, enhancing community-based services, and reducing the strain on hospitals in the long run. The plan was developed with inputs from the public and staff through the “Change NHS” initiative.
