Around 100 firefighters and fifteen fire engines rushed to a shop in London as it caught fire this evening. According to the London Fire Brigade, the fire impacted a ground floor shop with flats above. Local residents were instructed to keep windows and doors shut, and the station itself was closed, leading to significant travel disruptions.
A 25-meter cordon was set up, and the public was advised to avoid the area due to the ongoing fire incident. At present, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
Meanwhile, fire crews are actively working to extinguish a fire that started at a shop and workshop in Forest Hill, causing traffic disruptions and affecting passengers using Forest Hill station. Approximately 15 individuals have been evacuated from neighboring buildings, with no reported injuries so far.
As of 9:45 pm, parts of the ground floor shop and the first and second floors are still ablaze, along with a section of the single-story workshop behind the shop, as confirmed by the London Fire Brigade.
Station Commander Anthony Lewis, present at the scene, anticipates a prolonged operation to completely put out the fire, urging locals to keep windows and doors closed due to smoke. A 25-meter cordon is currently in place, and the public is advised to steer clear of the area to avoid traffic disruptions.
In Forest Hill, a ground floor shop on Perry Vale caught fire around 6:30 pm, with fire crews remaining at the scene. Southern Rail services will not stop at Forest Hill until further notice, with alternative transport arrangements in place.
The reason behind the fire is under investigation, and the London Fire Brigade has issued warnings regarding significant traffic disruptions in the Forest Hill vicinity. Fire crews from various stations are working alongside a 32-meter turntable ladder to contain the fire from above.
Forest Hill tube station has been shut, and commuters are advised to reconsider their travel plans. The public is advised to avoid the area around the burning shop, where a significant emergency response is ongoing.
