Amazon is set to release a new streaming device that offers enhanced features not found in its current models. The Fire TV Stick HD, priced at £39.99 and scheduled for launch later this month, is the latest entry-level device from the tech giant. Compared to its predecessor, it boasts a slimmer and more stylish design, being 30% narrower which makes it easier to attach to the back of TVs and more portable for users on the go.
One notable feature of the new Fire TV Stick HD is its power source – it can be powered via the TV’s USB port, eliminating the need for a separate power adapter. Amazon stated, “The new Fire TV Stick HD is our slimmest streaming device, optimized for Direct Power through the TV’s USB port, allowing it to fit neatly behind a TV without requiring an additional power adapter.”
Similar to other Fire TV Sticks, this device provides seamless access to popular streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV, Prime Video, iPlayer, ITVX, and Netflix. It comes with a remote equipped with Alexa voice search and quick app-launch buttons. While it doesn’t support 4K quality, the Fire TV Stick HD offers full HD viewing, suitable for most households.
Amazon highlights that the new Fire TV Stick HD delivers significant speed improvements compared to previous HD models, clocking in at over 30% faster on average. This results in quicker boot-up times and faster app loading. Additionally, it runs on the latest Fire operating system, offering a cleaner interface, enhanced recommendations, and a more streamlined content discovery process.
The Fire TV Stick HD is expected to hit stores on April 29th with a price tag of £39.99.
