A tragic incident unfolded as a female entrepreneur passed away following liposuction surgery in Turkey, leading to her being in a comatose state. The victim, Milena Mancini, aged 50, breathed her last in the intensive care unit of Istanbul’s ISU Medical Park Gaziosmanpaşa hospital, 20 days after her weight loss procedure at a private clinic.
After traveling to Turkey in September with one of her daughters from Italy, complications arose about 36 hours post-surgery when she experienced severe abdominal pain. It was revealed that a perforation in her intestine occurred during the operation, resulting in an infection.
Milena’s uncle, Luigi Di Palma, disclosed to the media that a complication arose during the surgery, leading to a subsequent infection at the clinic. Unaware of the procedure, her relatives were shocked to learn about it only after her admission to intensive care, prompting some family members to rush to Turkey to support her.
Tragically, Milena’s health deteriorated, and she remained in a coma until her passing. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Italy once her body is repatriated.
Hailing from Isola del Liri, a town southeast of Rome, Milena managed an estate agency after a career in financial consulting. She left behind her husband Umberto, daughters Alice and Juditta, father Alvaro, and sisters Rita and Sara. Described as a determined and capable individual, she was known for her warm and friendly nature.
In a separate incident in July, a British woman named Ruby Khan, aged 30, lost her life following liposuction and tummy tuck surgery in Turkey due to complications during the procedure. The surgery at Medical Point International Hospital in Izmir initially went well, but Ruby’s heart rate elevated, leading to her unfortunate demise a day later.
An inquest has been scheduled to further investigate the circumstances surrounding Ruby Khan’s tragic death.
