“Kyiv Hit by Russian Missile Attack, Power Station Destroyed”

Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was struck by significant explosions when a ballistic missile attack by Russia targeted and destroyed a power station.

The city experienced a massive explosion and fire, illuminating the night sky on Kyiv’s left bank in the aftermath of the missile strike.

The assault, which will disrupt heating services just as winter approaches in Ukraine, occurred shortly after Kirill Dmitriev, an envoy of Vladimir Putin, suggested in Washington that Russia, the US, and Ukraine were nearing a potential diplomatic resolution.

However, the recent devastation on the ground paints a different picture, with casualties and damage striking the Ukrainian capital amidst the Russian assaults overnight.

In response, Donald Trump announced plans to seek assistance from Chinese President Xi Jinping, an ally of Putin, to help end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine through various means like oil or energy cooperation.

Following a recent round of US sanctions targeting Russia’s major oil companies to pressure Putin economically, the CHP-6 power plant in Kyiv, crucial for hot water heating, was destroyed in the overnight attack. Furthermore, a kindergarten was damaged, adding to the toll of casualties and destruction from missile and drone strikes in the capital.

Advocates of the Russian invasion have called for a complete halt to Ukraine’s electricity supply.

Meanwhile, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, two individuals lost their lives, including a firefighter and a civilian woman, with several others injured as residential properties suffered damages.

This incident follows previous fatalities due to Russian strikes in Kherson, where Ukraine faced nine ballistic Iskander-M missiles and 62 strike drones.

Moreover, multiple explosions occurred in Volgograd as Ukraine targeted a significant electricity transmission point serving Moscow and other regions. Ukraine also reportedly used HIMARS missiles to damage a dam in Russia’s Belgorod region, affecting sluice gates but not destroying the structure.

The recent attacks in the ongoing conflict coincide with concerns among Moscow diplomats following Trump’s latest oil-related sanctions, aimed at disrupting a crucial revenue stream for Russia.

Dmitriev reportedly engaged in back-channel discussions with the Trump administration officials in the US. Despite Kremlin’s rejection of Trump’s plea to halt the conflict at its current front, Dmitriev suggested progress towards a diplomatic resolution, commending President Zelensky’s readiness to engage in negotiations.

He expressed optimism, stating, “We are reasonably close to a diplomatic solution that can be worked out,” pointing to the evolving dynamics of the conflict.
