Vladimir Putin has issued strong warnings to Western nations after announcing the successful testing of a new nuclear missile called “Flying Chernobyl,” which he described as “unstoppable.” Putin declared Russia now possesses the most advanced nuclear capabilities globally, highlighting a recent test flight of the Burevestnik missile on October 21, which he claims has an unlimited range.
During a visit to a military command center, Putin, alongside Russia’s top general Valery Gerasimov, discussed the development of the nuclear-powered missile. In a separate incident, Russian forces conducted a brutal overnight attack in Kyiv, resulting in casualties, including children.
Putin emphasized the advanced state of Russia’s nuclear deterrent forces, surpassing all other nuclear states. The Burevestnik missile, designed for extended flight durations and evading Western defense systems, showcased its capabilities during the recent test.
Gerasimov confirmed the successful test flight of the Burevestnik missile, known as “Flying Chernobyl,” covering a distance of 14,000 kilometers non-stop. This nuclear-powered missile demonstrated precision targeting and maneuverability, posing a significant challenge to enemy defenses.
Despite acknowledging that the Burevestnik is not yet ready for combat deployment, Putin aimed to instill fear in the West by emphasizing Russia’s ongoing military activities in Ukraine without specifying an end date to the conflict.
Meanwhile, as fires blazed in Kyiv from the recent attacks, rescuers worked to assist affected residents. Russian officials attempted to deflect blame onto Ukrainian air defenses for the civilian casualties, a claim refuted by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who condemned the attacks targeting civilians and infrastructure.
Zelensky highlighted the extensive scale of Russian strikes on Ukraine, including the use of drones, guided bombs, and missiles, resulting in significant damage and loss of life. The conflict continues to escalate, with both military and diplomatic tensions rising between Russia and Ukraine.
