Three teenage girls viciously ended the life of a pensioner in a brutal and unprovoked attack on the streets of London, capturing the horrific assault on their mobile phone. The culprits, two of whom are sisters, aged 14 and 16, along with their 17-year-old friend, assaulted Fredi Rivero, 75, on February 27, 2025, in Islington, north London. Mr. Rivero, a Bolivian national, was waiting near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road when the girls ambushed him.
The trio, now aged 15, 17, and 17, physically assaulted Mr. Rivero by pushing, shoving, kicking, and punching him. The eldest girl delivered the fatal blow, leading to Mr. Rivero being found unconscious on the pavement. Despite being hospitalized, he tragically succumbed to his injuries the following day. The girls were sentenced on Friday, October 3, to a total of nine years in jail after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Detective Inspector Devan Taylor, who led the investigation, condemned the unprovoked attack, stating that the girls callously filmed the assault, displaying a disturbing lack of empathy. The sisters’ troubled past was revealed, indicating a history of family turmoil and criminal behavior.
Their father’s descent into drug addiction had a profound impact on their upbringing. He resorted to stealing to fuel his addiction, including stealing Christmas presents from his children and committing violent crimes. The girls’ upbringing was marked by instability, with their father frequently absent and engaging in criminal activities.
Former acquaintances recalled the sisters as once being “nice kids” but observed a significant change in their behavior as they grew older amid their father’s criminal activities. The sisters’ home environment deteriorated, leading to aggressive behavior, substance abuse, and involvement in criminal activities, culminating in the fatal attack on Mr. Rivero.
