Tragic Death of Teenage Girl After Festive Gathering

A young girl described as having a kind-hearted nature was tragically discovered deceased in her room shortly after returning from a festive gathering, a coroner’s inquest revealed.

Millie Grace Brian, 18, was feeling unwell upon her return home and was found lifeless the next morning by her mother. A post-mortem examination showed that Millie’s blood alcohol level was more than double the legal driving limit. During the inquest, Millie’s mother, Lucy, emotionally praised her daughter’s character, calling her “the best person” with a compassionate soul.

According to reports, Millie attended a Christmas event at Beeston Hockey Club with family and friends on the night of December 20. She arrived at the club around 7 pm accompanied by her mother, her mother’s partner, and a male friend. The group had access to an open bar, where Millie likely consumed vodka and possibly wine. When they left around 1 am, Millie began feeling sick and vomiting.

The following morning, Millie’s mother realized her daughter had not moved and tragically discovered her lifeless. Investigators confirmed that there was no foul play involved in Millie’s death, and surveillance footage from the party showed nothing suspicious.

DC Adam Penn of Nottinghamshire Police stated during the inquest that Millie was not as intoxicated as she had been on previous occasions. At that time, there were no health concerns regarding Millie.

The post-mortem revealed that Millie had 187 milligrammes of alcohol per 100ml of blood. Coroner Nathanael Hartley explained that while the alcohol level alone couldn’t have caused death, it was sufficient to induce vomiting and reduce consciousness, leading to the aspiration of gastric contents and ultimately, her demise.

The pathologist’s conclusion was agreed upon by Mr. Hartley, attributing Millie’s death to the aspiration of gastric contents due to alcohol intoxication. Beeston Hockey Club honored Millie’s memory and organized a fundraiser to cover her funeral expenses, raising over £8,000.

The club expressed their grief, describing Millie as a cherished member of their staff with an angelic face, deeply missed by all who knew her.
