“UK Broadband Complaints Plummet to Record Low”

The most recent data on broadband complaints is now available, showing a mix of positive and negative outcomes. Starting with the positive news, the latest statistics from Ofcom indicate an overall improvement in the broadband industry landscape.

Ofcom reports a significant drop in complaints about the largest broadband providers in the UK, reaching the lowest level on record. From a peak of 40 complaints per 100,000 customers in 2011, the number has decreased to just six per 100,000 customers in the first quarter of 2026.

However, not all providers have fared equally well. TalkTalk stands out as the most complained-about broadband provider, according to Ofcom’s data for January to March 2026. The company received the highest number of customer complaints during this period.

Ofcom highlighted that TalkTalk’s complaints remained at a similar level to the previous quarter, with issues mainly revolving around faults, service quality, provisioning, complaints handling, and billing discrepancies. TalkTalk recorded 10 complaints per 100,000 customers, leading over Vodafone (8) and BT (7). Conversely, Plusnet received the fewest complaints at just four per 100,000 customers, followed closely by Sky with five.

For landline services, Utility Warehouse, Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone shared the top spot with only two complaints per 100,000 customers. In the pay-TV sector, TalkTalk and Sky were the top performers, each receiving only two complaints per 100,000 customers.

Cristina Luna-Esteban, Ofcom’s Director of Consumers and Retail Markets, expressed satisfaction with the decreasing broadband complaints trend. She emphasized the importance of companies continuously enhancing their services to ensure exceptional customer experiences. Luna-Esteban encouraged dissatisfied customers to explore other providers, mentioning the simplification of switching processes and the introduction of end-of-contract alerts and contract summaries for easier decision-making.
