Former rugby star Lewis Moody, known for his time with Leicester Tigers and Bath, considers himself fortunate to be able to raise awareness about Motor Neurone Disease after being diagnosed with the condition in September. Despite the challenging news, Moody, 47, adopts a positive perspective and sees it as an opportunity to shed light on the disease, following the lead of Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow.

In an interview with Mail Online, Moody expressed his optimism, saying, “I’ve always maintained a positive outlook on life. The recent news has given me a clear focus on my daily priorities. While there are moments of sadness, I choose to live in the present and make the most of each day.” He also mentioned making adjustments to his home for wheelchair access and preparing for potential voice loss by recording his voice.

Acknowledging the support he received post-diagnosis, Moody emphasized the importance of having a platform to advocate for those facing similar challenges. He shared the emotional journey of informing his family about his condition, particularly his sons’ reactions, which were a mix of controlled understanding and raw emotion.
