A new train station on the Eastern main line, the first in 100 years, is set to open four months ahead of schedule, much to the delight of rail authorities. The £175 million Beaulieu Park station in Essex will welcome passengers starting October 26th. This marks a significant milestone as the first station in this area since the 1920s.
Managing Director of Greater Anglia, Martin Beable, expressed excitement about the station, emphasizing its role in simplifying rail travel for passengers. Beaulieu Park station will offer a regular service with up to four trains per hour during peak times and two trains per hour during off-peak hours.
Councillor Louise McKinlay of Essex County Council highlighted the station’s importance in supporting infrastructure-led growth and enhancing travel in Chelmsford and surrounding regions. The station’s construction progress has been commended, with expectations of positive long-term impacts on the area.
The new station is expected to alleviate congestion at Chelmsford station and reduce car journeys to the city center, benefiting residents of the Beaulieu and Channels neighborhoods. As part of the Chelmsford Garden Community project, the station complements existing developments, including homes, a neighborhood center, and a school, with further expansion planned in the future.
Future plans for the Garden Community include additional homes, schools, employment spaces, and cycling routes, aiming to enhance accessibility and promote economic growth in the area. The new Beaulieu Park Station is anticipated to be a popular choice for travelers in Essex, contributing to the region’s transportation network and overall development.
