Ryanair has ranked at the bottom of the list for customer satisfaction among UK airlines, according to a recent survey conducted by consumer group Which? Out of nearly 30 airlines included in the survey, Ryanair received the lowest rating with a score of 55%. The airline only managed to score two stars out of five in categories such as booking process, boarding, customer service, and cabin environment, and a disappointing one star for seat comfort.
Over 1,200 Ryanair passengers participated in the survey. One customer, quoted by Which?, expressed dissatisfaction by stating, “The plane is dirty and the seats are awful.” In response, Ryanair defended itself by dismissing the survey results as “made-up” and “fake,” claiming that neither the airline nor its 208 million passengers pay any attention to such surveys.
Wizz Air, another budget carrier, was ranked just above Ryanair, receiving two stars in all categories except for value for money, where it scored three stars. Jet2, a holiday airline, topped the short-haul category with a satisfaction score of 76%, receiving four stars for value for money, customer service, and boarding process.
Singapore Airlines emerged as the top-rated carrier overall, scoring 81% and leading in the long-haul category. The airline received five stars for its cabin environment and customer service. British Airways achieved a 72% rating in both short-haul and long-haul categories.
The survey included more than 5,500 British adults who had flown economy class for leisure from a UK airport in the previous 12 months, covering approximately 9,500 flights in total. Which? highlighted that budget carriers may not always offer the cheapest option due to additional fees.
Responding to the survey, a spokesperson for Wizz Air criticized the sample size of the survey, stating that it surveyed only 259 people, which is a very small percentage of the 12 million passengers carried on their UK flights in 2025. Rory Boland, editor of Which? Travel, criticized Ryanair and Wizz Air for disregarding their customers’ experiences and emphasized the importance of considering additional fees when evaluating the cost-effectiveness of budget airlines.
