Summer holiday prices have only increased by £23 per person following the onset of the conflict in the Middle East, according to recent research findings. Concerns arose as the conflict began in late February and jet fuel prices surged, leading to worries about higher costs for British vacationers. Nevertheless, data from Travelsupermarket indicates that overall prices for holiday destinations have remained relatively stable since the crisis erupted.
The average cost per person for a seven-night summer holiday has seen a modest rise of £23 since the conflict began. However, there have been significant fluctuations, with certain locations experiencing price hikes. Recent statistics demonstrate that the price of a week-long trip to Ibiza has gone up from £532 to £540, while a trip to Majorca has increased from £515.62 to £570.26 per person. Conversely, numerous popular destinations have witnessed price decreases, partly due to decreased demand for certain regions like Turkey, or as travel companies offer discounts to entice cautious travelers.
Notable reductions in prices have been observed in various destinations. For instance, the Neapolitan Riviera in Italy has seen prices drop by £232 per person to £905. The Dominican Republic follows with a £130 decrease to £1,364, and Turkey’s Dalaman area has experienced a £110 reduction to £492 per person, making it a particularly cost-effective choice for summer vacations.
Among the well-liked destinations, Majorca has decreased by £86 to £581 per person, Corfu is down £83 to £568, and the Antalya Area in Turkey has seen prices fall by £90 to £520. Even Spain’s Costa Brava has seen an average price drop of £63 to £504 per person.
Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, pointed out that despite the prevailing uncertainty, summer holiday prices have not seen significant shifts, with only a £23 increase across all destinations on average. He emphasized the opportunity for travelers to take advantage of the current competitive pricing, especially as many destinations are experiencing price decreases. This could be an advantageous time to secure bookings before any potential price hikes.
Holiday companies are actively striving to boost bookings, leading to competitive pricing strategies in the current market.
