Conor Benn has criticized his rival Chris Eubank Jr for adopting a ‘victim mentality’ following the release of a disturbing video showing Eubank Jr receiving medical treatment in a hospital. The footage depicted Eubank Jr, aged 36, lying still on a hospital bed connected to medical equipment and surrounded by healthcare professionals.
The video generated a wave of sympathy from fans, with some suggesting that Eubank Jr should consider retirement, especially after his defeat to Benn by unanimous decision in their rematch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November. Benn, however, questioned Eubank Jr’s intentions behind sharing the video, hinting that it might be a ploy to garner sympathy.
In an interview with The Mail, the 29-year-old Benn disclosed rumors about Eubank Jr suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) during his training camp and possibly having a stomach cyst, but remained unconcerned, stating that it did not seem to be a severe health issue. Benn urged people to delve deeper into the motives behind the video, suggesting a recurring theme of seeking sympathy and playing the victim.
Benn highlighted his own undisclosed struggles, emphasizing the tough nature of the sport they are engaged in. He recounted personal challenges faced, such as dealing with injuries like a torn tendon and asthma, without seeking public sympathy, emphasizing the resilience required in their profession.
Eubank Jr, in his social media post, confirmed his determination not to retire despite his health issues, expressing gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support and promising a strong comeback once he regains full health.
