People’s Postcode Lottery Faces Backlash Over Yet Another Price Hike

People are expressing dissatisfaction as People’s Postcode Lottery has once again increased the price of their tickets. The monthly cost has gone up from £12.25 to £12.50, marking the third price hike by the subscription-based lottery. Previously, the price was raised from £12 to £12.25 last year and from £10 to £12 in 2023. Upset players have taken to TrustPilot to voice their frustration over the latest increment.

One individual questioned, “ANOTHER PRICE INCREASE? When will it stop?” Another comment read, “Constantly rising prices are making it less enjoyable to play; it feels more like a disappointment each month.”

Responding to complaints, People’s Postcode Lottery stated, “With the upcoming 25p increase, we will have our largest prize pot ever this year. This means more winnings across our draws, enhancing the gaming experience for all participants.”

The price adjustment is set to take effect for the April 2026 draw and is already reflected on the lottery’s website. Players are entered into daily, weekly, and monthly draws based on their postcode, with prizes including daily £1,000 wins for 20 postcodes, a Saturday £1 million prize shared among residents, and monthly £250,000 or larger prizes. Multiple winners from the same street are possible in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

Since its launch in 2005, the People’s Postcode Lottery has generated over £1 billion for numerous charities through the participation of millions of players. In a heartwarming story, a woman named Gail Wood, 54, discovered she had won £144,000 from the lottery while recovering from surgery in a hospital. The unexpected prize of £12,000 per month for a year came as a life-changing surprise to Gail, who had just undergone major surgery and feared for her life. The lottery’s impact on individuals like Gail demonstrates its potential to bring unexpected joy and financial support to players.
